Words Have Power

Ever So often we all get caught up in negative energy whether it's dwelling on instances of self-doubt, conflict, or just plain old gossip which may not all be bad until it becomes malicious.

It may feel gratifying or even comforting but it really sets you up for how you show up, before you know it, all your time and energy is spent dwelling on something that is counterproductive, and has no impact on your personal growth and enrichment. I personally feel drained from partaking in a moment of destructive conversation.

A person's energy is a direct reflection of their emotion, and if you've ever noticed how someone else's energy has a direct impact on your day, then imagine the state of how someone's negative conversation can impact your mind.

Take for instance how crazed people get about celebrity misfortunes. I believe our societies and environments have conditioned us to get a thrill out of the negative talk and if we continue to fuel it, we program our brains to respond exactly the same way each time, feeding our reward system. I find conversations like this don't allow us to grow, but rather detract us from our productivity.

Shifting gears with "Reframing"

What's the resolve, stay clear of bad conversation or company, if you need to be in their presence, change the topic or highlight the positive attribute in order to lead the conversation towards something fruitful and productive for a better mental state.

To give you more substance in why this is so vital, Dr. Masaru Emoto compiled a test on water and how its structure was altered separately by negative and positive words when frozen, positive wording creates structured crystals whereas negative wording forms what he calls "ugly states" stating that the structured water influenced by positive words have healing properties. This is interesting considering how, for instance, the blessing of our food, prayers over the sick, and how water is made holy once prayed over, these have long been practiced through time by many cultures.

These all point to the importance of being more aware and accountable for our words, not only to ourselves in thought but also in our conversations with others.

Be a catalyst for altering negative narrative and override the primitive brain that thrives off the negative for a more positive narrative set for a greater impact on all around us. In so doing, we shift our fixed mindset, (which is restrictive and self-limits our own ability to make actionable and incremental changes that lead to big rewards down the line), towards a growth mindset, driving us to think more creatively, feed our curiosity for knowledge and expand our intelligence which ultimately serves greater humanity.
